The customer contacted Dayspring Restoration after discovering visible microbial growth across the bedroom and basement areas. Suspected water infiltration through the foundation or around egress windows during storms and groundwater surges led to moisture-damaged building assemblies, elevated readings, and secondary mold contamination requiring certified remediation under IICRC S500 and S520 guidelines.
To eliminate microbial hazards and dry the subterranean envelope safely, we designed a comprehensive mitigation and mold remediation plan under full personal protective equipment (PPE), including full-face respirators. Our technicians isolated the basement office, living room, and family room with plastic containment barriers attached to industrial air filtration devices (AFDs) to produce negative air pressure and halt cross-contamination into living quarters. Within the containment envelope, our team systematically removed water-damaged and mold-colonized drywall, fiberglass batt insulation, and compromised vinyl flooring to access structural framing, plumbing chases, and bottom sill plates. We performed detailed HEPA vacuuming across all walls, subfloors, and framing lumber, accompanied by abrasive physical cleaning and antimicrobial wet-wiping treatments. Once thorough cleaning was verified, we deployed high-capacity dehumidification and centrifugal air movement equipment to extract embedded structural moisture under continuous sensor monitoring. Additionally, our technicians inspected potential ingress zones near plumbing penetrations, foundation walls, and window perimeters to guide essential waterproofing repairs.
