The customer required emergency water damage mitigation after a suspected leak from a kitchen dishwasher drain or supply line migrated downwards, affecting multiple levels of the home. The water had saturated premium kitchen hardwood flooring and dripped through the subfloor into the ceiling of the basement laundry room below. To prevent warping (cupping) of the hardwood floors and to stave off impending microbial growth, the customer needed immediate moisture mapping, targeted structural drying, and a professional containment setup while collaborating with the plumbing team to pinpoint the source.
We deployed an advanced, non-destructive drying strategy overseen by Project Manager Wyatt: Precision Moisture Mapping: Tracked drying progress using specialized deep-wall probe moisture meters to monitor structural timber, wood floors, and cabinet particle board. Hardwood Mat Drying (Injectidry): Set up specialized Injectidry floor mats directly onto the kitchen hardwood floors to pull trapped moisture out of the wood planks and subfloor without requiring demolition of the expensive flooring. Controlled Demolition & Access: Removed affected ceiling drywall in the basement laundry room to dry the floor joists from below and pulled 6 linear feet of kitchen toe kicks to ventilate the base of the cabinetry. Advanced Climate Control: Deployed a heavy-duty commercial drying grid including 3 dehumidifiers, 6 air movers, and an Air Filtration Device (AFD) across both the kitchen and basement zones. Post-Mitigation Detailing: Once moisture points returned to dry standards, we extracted all equipment, dismantled the tension-pole containment zones, and executed a thorough cleanup using horsehair brush vacuums to eliminate any airborne dust settled during the air-movement process.
