The customer, Ellen, contacted us following a severe Category 3 (grossly contaminated) sewage backup originating from her basement bathroom. The blackwater backup affected three to four rooms, causing extensive contamination to flooring, walls, and fixtures. Because sewage poses significant biological and health risks, Ellen required immediate emergency mitigation. We walked her through the industry-standard safety protocols required for biohazard losses, helped navigate her claim with SafeCo insurance (Sapphire Mountain Agency), and coordinated alongside Garden City Plumbing, who cleared the blocked drain line.
We delivered an intensive, highly regulated biohazard and water damage restoration service, including- Emergency Extraction & Demolition: Immediately removed highly porous, contaminated materials that could not be salvaged, including the affected carpets, underlay (pad), and water-logged furniture. Microbial Treatment: Sprayed all affected structural surfaces with Myco antimicrobial treatments to sanitise the area and eliminate harmful pathogens, bacteria, and odours. Precision Moisture Monitoring: Utilised advanced slide-hammer moisture meters to track deep-seated moisture levels within the subfloor and wall framing to ensure compliance with dry-standard targets. Advanced Structural Drying: Deployed an Air Filtration Device (AFD / air scrubber) to clean the air of airborne contaminants, alongside two commercial-grade dehumidifiers and low-profile air movers to aggressively dry out the concrete subfloor and structural timber.
