The customer experienced significant water damage in their kitchen and crawlspace due to a faulty refrigerator filter. This led to multiple layers of flooring (LVP, particle board, hardwood) and the underlying subfloor becoming saturated, weak, and susceptible to microbial growth, creating unsafe conditions and a musky odor. Trapped moisture under corner cabinets further exacerbated the issue.
Dayspring Restoration provided comprehensive water mitigation services for the kitchen and crawlspace. This involved an initial loss assessment, setting up containment, and extensive demolition of six layers of flooring (LVP, particle board, and multiple hardwood layers) and built-in kitchen cabinets. Our team performed moisture monitoring and drying using specialized equipment like air movers and dehumidifiers. We applied antimicrobial agents to the subfloor, changed equipment filters, and covered holes in the weak subfloor with plywood to ensure safety. Communication was maintained with both the client and the insurance adjuster, facilitating scope changes, and the project concluded with final monitoring, equipment removal, and cleanup.
